New Winchester Model 70 Compact
I recently aquired a new North Carolina Model 70 compact in .308 Winchester. Great trigger, and free floated all the way. Not exactly like the classics I have had but near enough.
Put on a Nikon 3x9 Buckmaster and sighted it in with Federal Fusion 165 grain factorey ammo.
Shot a three shot group at the end and it measured .912 inches center to center.
Probably change the scope to a more compact scope in the future.
Just a small note for you that are considering a new model 70. I also have a Featherweight 30-06 that I am most pleased with.

Give a look at the Burris Timberline 2x7 model, that's what I use on my carbines and it's a perfect match. Do they make that compact model in a 7mm-08?

My M-70 compact is in 7-08 and while I haven't shot it yet it is a sweetie.....

I'd scope it with the Leupold 3-9 X 33 ultralite and Talley one piece rings to keep weight down

I had a classic 7mm-08 compact, and somebody made me an offer I couldn't refuse for it.
I also had a .308 that I sold. Now I have a .308 again. A 7mm-08 may follow. I miss them both.

If they ever do start making the EW in .375H&H they'd have a hard time keeping up with the demand I'm thinking.
