surefire7Best 338 win mag bullet for elk?
In the USA and Africa I use:
250gr.NP & 275gr.SAF
and
Leupold 2.5-8x.
I like the objective size of this scope (36mm) and it’s lighter weight over 3-9x or 3.5-10x.

AtkinsonWith todays "shortages" I suggest Barnes bullets, they are good bullets and available. They work, there cheap, and perform well enough on any game...

Michael RobinsonI’m taking my .338 Win. Mag. with me on a hunting trip next month.
I’ll be using 225 grain TBBC bullets in high energy loads producing about 2,950 fps MV.
I have used these before and with proper placement they are sure killers.
I think they’re the equal of any .375 H&H loads I have ever used on big game.

Hi, I'm getting a 338 hoping soon. Always wanted one, model 700 stainless. I'm a reloader, got the brass, primers, some powder but NO BULLETS. What grain would you recommend for elk? And maybe a mulie buck at times. But mainly my Elk medicine. I'm in the high Desert of Oregon. Which the shots can be far. Also which power of scope you recommend? I'm a Talley guy. Thanks very much.
I've killed everything from whitetails deer and Pronghorn up to an including Kudu and a huge Eland with the 338WinMag.
For the big stuff, the 225gr Federal Premium Trophy Bonded Bear Claws worked great. But my go to load was the 250gr Sierra SBT at 2650fps.
I'd gladly use the 250gr Sierra on everything.

AtkinsonI know several people who have used the Sierra BTSP on Cape Buffalo with excellent results and many elk are shot eqch year by locals..Ive used them a good deal lately and apparently they have been toughened up at some point?? That said Id still recomend 250 gr Nosler
