First ShotOrdered new 7mm-08
I finally got around to calling Grices today and ordered the special run 7600 7mm-08. I sure hope this thing shoots at least as well as my Rem 700 Mtn LSS 7mm-08!!!!

First ShotThanks guys. I kind of like the looks of it as well. I grew up shooting a pump shotgun and fell in love with the 7mm08 caliber when I got the Mtn LSS. I like to still hunt so the pump will come in real handy at tiems.
I'm going to scope it with either a Leupold W/Boon & Crocket reticle or Burris w/Ballistic plex reticle. I know from everything I've read here and elsewhere that a trigger job witll be required, but I reload and am fairly confident I'll be able to get her shooting in the MOA range.

DwightNice rifle and great caliber. I personally would not expect a pump action to be a long range rifle and you may not want to push your loads too hot. The reason I said that is that the balisics may not be close enough to get the benefit of the B&C reticle. A tip would be to get a duplex reticle and then at 300 yds see where you hit the target using the top of the bottom post of the duplex. That may do what you want and save some money.
Have fun with the new toy. I would like to have one of those but my 700 with a 20" varmint barrel in 7/08 shoots so good the pump would not get any action and get lonely in the safe.

JaywalkerI like it! I read someplace the LOP was shorter than normal, but I can't find the reference again. Is it 14" or 13-3/8", or something else?

bja105I have a Burris with ballistic plex. Its a great scope, and the ballistic plex works great for groundhogs, but needing maximum magnification for proper callibration is too much for deer (at leats with my 14X.) Deer often don't give me enough time, and I'm too goofy under pressure to utilize a slightly more complicated system.

Dr. DucI have a CDL in 7mm-08 and I was sighting it in today. 140gr Nosler partition. It shoots the Accubond 3" higher than the partition. Good shooter.

seafire/B17GWhile the 7600 is not my type of rifle, the grey laminate one sure is an attractive rifle, and the 7/08 is definitely a very nice round...
cheers and congrats..

LOL....I agree 14X might be just a bit much for deer under 100 Yds. I've got the 3-9x40 on my Mtn LSS and most of the time it's stays on 3X. Even sighted in dead on at 100 Yds, I'm just 3" low at 200 Yds. Anything further away than that I've generally got time to twist her up to 9X.
I'll probably put a 2-7x35 on the pump.

The LOP on my Rem 700 Mtn LSS is 13 3/8". On the standard production 7600 LOP is 14" Not sure on the Grice special run.
