jens poulsen.270 Weatherby
I have just recieved my new "zapper", a nice pre-64 M70 from my gunmaker, rebarreled( 27"lilja) to .270Weatherby. Triggered by Jewell!.
I have seen advertized "loads" for the .270WBY
doing 3250Ft/Sec with a 150grain bullet which is very fast but is that a true figur?.
Anyone in here maybe have experience with this caliber?.
Thanks!

ReloaderIs it True? Your bbl and Chrony will tell.
You shouldn't have any trouble getting that Velocity in the 270 Wea.
Give IMR 7828 a try, it's quite the powder in my 7 WEA.
If your New bbl has the "Free Bore" (long jump to the lands), you should be able to load up to a Max of 72 grains of IMR 7828 that should give you the velocity you want in that 27" tube. Better start in the 68-69 grn range of course.
Good Luck!

I 2nd every thing Reloader said. 72 grains might be warm....start where he said. Re 25 has also been a good powder but I would start with 7828. 140 swift a frames have been an awesome bullet in my 270 wby.

This is highly doubtful at Saami pressures.
I'd buy 3,100.....MAX

You will be able to reach those velocities with Norma MRP or MRP2.
What bullet do you plan to use?
Cheers

I am plannig on shooting mainly with 150grain bullets!.
I have just been to the shootingrange and shooting some factoryloads, and they did fine and very flatshooting!.Setting my scope for deadon at 200 meters, it was only going 3cm high at 100 meters!!. Very impressive..a real raygun

!.I noticed when shooting small sessions of 3shots the slime sporterbarrel heats up VERY rapidly!!!!!!. I have no plans to have my rifling "washed out" so I figured that 3 shots and then let the barrel cool off!. This caliber(.270WBY) makes a 30-06 look like a potatogun compared in trajectory performance

That sounds like a sensible precaution. The barrel heating problem gets worse in summer, and it is warm in DK at the moment, yes??
