Bob...I think it's the part where "if they keep selling" that sticks in my mind most. Typical responses when I ask for them, in my neck of the woods, is something like:

"Why would you want that bullet, it's outdated"...or, "Have you tried "X" weight, it's a much better bullet" ...."Haven't seen any of those in years" (the young fellow probably ain't a day over 25)...."That bullet was made "strickly" for the old 7mm Mauser, what you need is______for the 7x57"...(I would hate to ask for some bullets for a .275 Rigby...they would probably tell me they don't make 'em.)...... etc, etc.

This is coming from people who work in gun shops!! People who SHOULD know a little something about guns!

Mark my words! This excellent bullet is slowly falling from grace due to ignorance on behalf of, wannabe, know-it-all, sales people.......not the industry, and not the consumer who has past experience with it.

I guess it's the "speed" thing. The old 175gr RN in a 7mm is not going to set the world on fire with ballistic magic in terms of velocity, and the ability to shoot through 3 Zip Codes without sight adjustment...that ain't it's nature. OTOH, it does a remarkable job for those who take time to use it as intended.

Thanks for the information on Midway, but my order is still standing from mid July. Guess I better call them and check status. (I would like to think they were back ordered due to demand)

The order from LS&B was cancelled. I WILL get some more 175grRN, and when I do I will get enough to last several years.

Thanks to all who participated in this. And...if you haven't tried this bullet, make it a point to so. You may well be pleasantly surprised.

Hornady's round nose in 175 grain is still being made, last I checked. But a good alternative, that has no flies on it, is the 154 grain RN.

It is a very accurate and hard hitting bullet in its own right.
