Win 70 with detachable mag
My son owns a Win 70 classic, synthetic stock with detachable magazine in .30/06. He has a lot of trouble with the magazines, they (quite expensive in Germany, 85€) are of bad quality. Now my question: is it possible to install a normal triggerguard/floorplate of a Mod.70?

I have one in 270Win. and don't think it can be done. I'm no gunsmith but I've looked into this before.

I do not have a Classic M70 with a detachable magazine. Instead I have classic M70's with integral magazines and a new FN Patrol Border Rifle with a detachable magazine.

Below are pictures of a M70 Classic short action magazine box, and a Wiesner’s M70 follower. A Winchester follower is riveted to the follower spring.

When I examined my PBR, I did not see much that was different from a M70 classic short action. In fact I was able to swap the bolts between the two, and close the bolts in the other actions. This tells me these things are very similar.

I think I took this M70 Classic short action magazine box, and dropped it into the magazine well of this PBR.

I have not tried your conversion, but I don’t know why it would not work.

I would think you would need a magazine box, a follower and follower spring, new floorplate and trigger guard.

Pre 64 magazine boxes will not work in a Classic action.

If this is the set-up you have, I'm pretty sure it won't work. At least not a normal magazine box and floorplate. There is always a possibility though. Good luck. Maybe Slamfire has something here.
