Lone_CrowWhich bullet for .30-30
I'd like to use a 125 gr bullet in my single shot .30-30.
Have any of you used either the sierra spitzer or sierra flat nose hollow point on deer size game? How effective are they? Any advantage over the factory .30-30 ammo?
Tom
I have seen that used in a single shot. A 125 grain or 150 grain Ballistic Tip would be my choice.
Try RL 7 for the most velocity with a 125 grain bullet.
Cheers and Good shooting

AtkinsonI have never found a 125 gr. 30-30 bullet that suited me for deer so I gave up on them some years back. They worked fine on perfect broadside shots but not so hot on any kind of an angle...the 150 Corelokt, Barnes X work much better and the 170 gr. Nosler partition works pretty darn good on deer and elk out of a 20 inch carbine.
