I am 1.5 inches high at 100 yards shooting Federal 210 grain Nosler Partitions out of my .338 Win Mag - where will I be at 200 and 300 yards....

What is your velocity, your altitude?

Low and lower.

if your speed is 2900 fps you need to be 1.7 high at 100 yds, for a 200 yd zero.
then you''d be -7.5 inchs at 300 yds.

I believe I'm 2.5" high at 100 Yd. with a Nosler 210 , with 70 grains of 4350 it pushes around 2850 FPS. I'm then plus 1.0" at 200 yd. and 5.75" - 6.25" low at 300 yd. . I would have to DBL check my book but I know it's close to that .

I've got some numbers for you.
I ran these through my Sierra Infinity program.
Factory federal with 210 grain Nosler Partitions are travelling at an estimated 2830 fps.
your zero is 186 yards
100 yards +1.5"
200 yards -0.64"
300 yards -8.92"
400 yards -24.53"

This is calculated at my elevation/altitude of 6800' and 50% humidity.
Yours may vary.

According to Federal, with their 210gn. partition load when you are 1.8" high at 100 yds you will be dead on at 200 yds, 8" low at 300 yds, 23.3" low at 400 yds, and 47.5" low at 500 yds.

I used the 210gn Federal load in Namibia in September. I shot a Rowland Ward Hartebeest through the heart at approx. 330 yds. I sighted in 1.75" high at 100yds, and it worked perfectly.

In my limited experience, I'd say Federal knows what its ammo is up to.

I will be in Saskatchewan, so will the cold weather - as compaired to my home of Georgia - have an effect on the drop/rise too?

Give me the altitude and ambient temp of your home state and your destination and I will look at the numbers for you, the differences will be tiny ( less than .25" I'm sure).

WTR, you may not have this as an option, but if you plan to shoot longer distances where you are hunting, I'd highly recommend shooting at at least 200 yds, sight dead on there, or even a tad further if you have long shots.

Seafire on the board sights I believe 2.5-3" high at 100, putting him on at 250+, depends what you are hunting.

Is this a big game hunt outside GA? Many variables such as scope height above bore affect things, always best to shoot and verify, I have done 95% of my shooting at 200 and further, not trusting, 'If I hit x high at 100...'

I get 3005 FPS with a 210 Nosler in my 24" barrel .338 Hogue rifle. It is 3" high at 100 and dead on at 275 yards..

I have it 3" high because thats the way it worked out in this wonderful rifle..It shoots dead on at 100 with a 300 gr. Woodleigh, 2" high with a 250 Nosler and that put the 210 3" high..don't want to change a thing.

Ray how accurate are those 300 gr woodleighs?I have wanted to try them.I wish Winchester had the 300 gr power points still.I have shot 300 gr serria match kings out of my 338-378 at 2850 fps they are awesome.They go about 2400 out of a 338 win mag.

Well....

The hunt was a success and the bullet performed flawlessly. A 70 yard shot into the boiler room - the deer ran 30 yards (to my surprise). The internal damage was tremendous from the Nosler Partition. I got the shot on film (would show yall if I knew how to upload).

Whitetail scored 152 and some change and weighed 260 on the hoof.

Thanks for all the help - ended up with a chip shot of a target, but was prepared for the long ones.

The 300gn Woodleigh SNRN is a good accurate bullet. It is around equal 3rd in my rifle, only the 250gn Woodleigh and 225gn Nosler(the most accurate) have given me more consistently accurate groups. They are certainly plenty good enough for any hunting situation. I sight mine at 2 inches high at 100. This gives zeros at 25 and 175 yards, and -1.7 at 200. This is using 71 gn Reloader 22 for 2400fps.
