I'm having a 9.3x62mm built for Alaska and Canada hunting. Specifically for bear and moose.

Mulling over what scope to use...

Considering the following:

Leupold FX-II 4x33mm
Leupold VX-III 1.75-6x32mm
Swarovski 1.5-6x42mm
Zeiss 1.5-6x42mm
Schmidt & Bender 1.5-6x42mm
Khales 1.5-6x42mm

Always seems to be a trade off..... no clear-cut obvious choice....

I prefer the generous eye relief, light weight, reasonable price, and clean ergonomics of the Leupold..... but neither are great in low light conditions.

The Euro scopes are great glass, and with 42mm lens, will perform better in low light conditions..... however, the eye relief has me concerned (3 to 3 1/2 inches) and they weigh more than I like, and may not balance as well as the Leupolds.

For those of your hunting in said areas for bear and moose, what scope do you use??

How about no scope , open sights

It will be equipped with open sights. In addition to the irons, I prefer a low powered fixed or variable scope.

I have a CZ 550 American mounted with a 2.5-8x Leupold. Works but is not so hot in low light.

My previously owned Chapuis 9,3x74R DR came with an S%B 1.5-6 x 42. It ought not to be compared with the Leupold as it is just so much better a scope!

Have had no difficulty with the eye relief of the S&B scope even though the Chapuis is light and has much more recoil motion that the bolt rifle.

Would be a wonderful scope on a 9,3x62 bolt rifle.

I have a VXIII 1.75x6 & am saving it for a .375h&h, but I sure would use it on a 9.3.

Go with the Swaro or the S&B.

You will never look back and wonder why.

I have a 1.5-6x42 swaro on my 9.3 Sako 75 and eye relief has never been a problem and I dont think it will be for you unless your rifle is a super light weight .

I second this advice, can´t be beaten at all.

Question remains though if you should go with a ligthed recticle or not.

My advice get it with the lighted one.

Not in your choices, but I use a 2-7 vari X11 leupold on mine, heaps of eye releif and a tough reliable scope, is fairly cost effective as well.
