Has anyone fired any Kynoch ammo? I mean the old real Kynoch, not Kynammco. I've got a 10-pack which I bought because it seemed nice to have. Tried to sell it, no bids, at a really low price and I'm not giving it away. I'm thinking of just shooting the stuff just for the experience. Any idea how well this holds up over time? From the packaging, seems to have been stored well.

Some years back some one on this forum gave me a big bag of old kynoch 7x57. This if fmj and old. It sat here for a long time..finally in preparation for an African trip we shot a bunch of it thru a Mauser rifle I had put together.

It shot really well for us, accurate and no misfires. Not sure if it was corrosive so I cleaned as if it was after we shot. I still have some left..

I've got boxes of 9x57. shot fine, did the same as zeeriverrat1, cleaned the rifle thoroughly.

Bullet weight and type, i.e., soft or solid?

Non-mercuric primers?

Cordite?

i'd say with certainty it's cordite and corrosive. 175 gr and i think softnose. i'd have to look. i'll just shoot the stuff. i'm too old to have stuff sitting around just because.

There are a lot of collectors out there who love that Kynoch ammunition.

I know you say you tried to sell it, but don’t be impatient.

Just leave it on GunBroker for a while at a decent price and somebody will snap it up.

On the other hand, I hear you.

You might as well shoot it up if you don’t have the patience for all that.

One of my PHs had a very tattered box of Kynoch '06 with 220 gr solids. We were going to target a porcupine and all I had were 165 TSX. He wanted me to shoot the porcupine with a solids. I told him that the two bullets might have a hugely different POI so we tried one of the Kynoch solids. It was a dud.
I'll never forget the PH putting it back in the box knowing it was a dud.

A lot of this stuff is of rather ancient vintage!

Somebody will buy it, sells at about $50 per box some years ago in some gun rag?? best I recall. I sure wouldn't shoot it up.
