norma 9.3 bullets
Is there anyone in canada who carries norma 232gr 9.3 bullets?I would like to get some for my 9.3x64 for sheep/goat hunting,is there a better all around caliber in the world for a standard action.

The Norma Vulcan 232 grs bullet has a great reputation on smaller game in 9.3x62. In 9.3x64 I would recommend 250 grs at least: Swift A frame.

Of course the NP 286 grs would be especially fine for heavier game.

I am also trying to locate Norma components for both 8mm and the 9.3. The Norma distributor in Canada can be reached at fnsports@rnicholls.com
I have asked them for a retail outlet in Canada, but have not recieved a reply yet. Give them a try, if your luck is better than mine, please let me know!

Hi Metrix. P & D over on 115th Street have sone Norma stuff they just got in. Apparently, Norma is very hard to get, even with a Canadian distributor. Very annoying. Someone isn't doing their job well. I'm not sure what all they got in, I just bought a bunch of 308 Norma mag brass. - Dan

Perhaps you might contact Norma through their web page and see if they might have more than one distributor in Canada.

Norma

It is a rather buggy website that demands you use Internet Explorer rather than Netscape.

Although the sectional density of the 232gr bullet isn't high, that bullet (as well as the 286gr) rarely fragment so it should be excellent for even rather large critters. Both the 232 and 286gr bullets have killed boxcars full of moose here in Sweden. If I didn't already have a .358 Norma Mag and a .375 H&H Mag, I'd have a 9.3 x 62! :-)

All things Norma (including these bullets) are quite common in my town, but unfortunately I'm not planning a trip to Canada until near Christmas.

Thanks for the heads up dan. I've asked for Norma components at P&D before, and all they had were some 30 Carbine brass. There is only the one Norma distributor in Canada, unfortunatly.

Norma are in the midst of changing their bullet line up.

Offerings are:-

232gr vulkan

232gr Oryx (bonded core) discontinued but stock remains at factory

232gr FMJ

286gr Alaska (standard SP)

286gr plastic point

286gr Oryx (bonded core) production due shortly

I have just bought 500 oryx 232gr as I had excellent results with the vulkan but wondered what would happen if I came across a BIG moose at short range.

I'm guessing you would soon be eating moose steaks [Smile]

For extending the range of the 9.3x62 ( x74R ) keep in mind, that the most pointed bullets are the Nosler 286 Partition ( Win ammo ) and the Norma 286 grs Plastic point ( also loaded ammo ).

I ignore the FMJ Norma Jaktmatch at this point. I dont believe the ballistics of the RWS TUG ammo.

I havent seen the A square bullets yet.

To live in Sweden is a very good thing if you need Norma components, Its virtually impossible to avoid the stuff if you go into a gunshop. I could get ahold of some norma 232 bullets and send to you if you want to.

Metrix, perhaps this would be the best way for us isolated westerners to get Norma merchandise. We could pool an order and ask one of the Scandinavian posters here to help us out. What do you think? Email me if you like, and we'll discuss this further. - Dan

It's just like the Swedes and the Canadians to cook up a socialist plot like this. [Big Grin]

The thought of you guys in a socialist club, ordering bullets by the shipload is enough to make any swedish gundealer drool himself unconscious....

Well, I see it something like this, a good socialist wants to take care of everyone, right? The government needs taking care of too. It's your duty as a concerned citizen and socialist to help the government. You see, the government is addicted to tax dollars. IT IS YOUR SACRED DUTY to help wean the government from this dependency. Therefore, the more you can do to keep money out of the hands of the government, the better citizen you are. Remember, giving money to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys. Not the smartest plan. Hey, I'm just trying to help. As for the tons of bullets, well, if one plan fails, it's always good to have backup. - Dan

On Dan Belisles comment, I can only say as the Soviet Army yelled out when charging the Nazis with bayonets in the streets of Stalingrad during WWII... Hurraaaa!!
...and to Norma overseas I can only say one thing!!! SHAME ON YOU!!!
