nosler or sierra?
Hey i have 165gr nosler partitions and 180gr sierra gamekings Im doing up some 30-06 loads and was wondering which you guys would choose for moose under 200 yards ? We never have a bull tag and sometimes get lucky and get a cow tag. thanks.

It probably won't matter. I would go with the 180 though the 165 Partition will end up retaining more weight.

Nosler Partitions all the way! Moose are not hard to kill, just takes them about 3 to 5 minutes to realize they are dead. I would keep a few 220 grain bullets on hand, just in case you have a bear problem.

Either one should work just fine for moose. Pick one and take your moose!

Some guns don't like certain bullets. Test them both, let your rifle pick.

Of the 2 you mention, it's a Partition, hands down but I'd prefer at least a 180 Gr. in a .30 cal. As mentioned, moose aren't difficult to kill but it seems as if they don't know it. You want something to keep them from heading to the deepest part of a pond or river. Water is their friend & that's where they'll go for.
I don't think it matters much as to whether you get 1 1/2" groups with the Partition and, say 1" or less with the GameKing. Better to look at bullet construction in this case. Just keep him from getting to the water.
good luck.

Unless you're the lead dog, the scenery never changes.

I have no experience with moose, but have considerable with elk. We shoot both the 165 and 180 Partitions, and they have always been dependable performers, and perhaps a little more forgiving on shot placement than the game kings. Out to 200 yds, all the partitions have been pass thrus, and all the elk have been down, within a few yards. One rifle likes the 180's and one the 165's. I see no difference, actually between the 2.
