9.3x64 Brennekke Brass in the USA??
I have been looking to build a medium bore in 35 Whelen or 9.3X62 but I have a chance to buy a nice barreled action chambered in 9.3X64 Brennekke.
I know nothing about the round other then the current owner says it is tough to get brass for it.

Any info in the rounds and availability of brass in the USA would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jeff You have probably figured out the local Wally World doesn't stock brass for this calibre. Dealers that do bring some in often sell out and don't have any for almost a year. You can make useable brass from 458 Win cases. It is a bit of work but it can be done. Makes a good winter works project. If you want more detail e-mail me.

Thanks for the info guy. I looked into it a bit more and although it looks like a nice round I think I will pass. I would end up with twice as much in the reloading dies and 50 rounds of brass as I would have to pay for the barreled action.

Jeff,

You can get brass from Germany for about $1 each including shipping. Several people here have done so, and I am now.

Doc,
I purchased some 9.3x64 RWS brass directly from Germany for about that last year. I inquired about more recently and the price had increased considerably to about what OWS gets, when he has it. Who are you going through? Cobalt

Doc,
Did Stefan quote a cost for shipping? Thanks,
Bob

Actually, I might have under estimated the cost of ordering from Germany. With the Euro up as high as it is, I figure my cases would cost 1.20-1.25 depending on the shipping.

Bob,

He didn't break down my shipping cost, which is almost $30. But again I ordered several boxes of bullets and brass. I saw on the other thread that Bear Claw was going to send you some 8x68s cases from Hirtenberger to try and reform, would you want to try some RWS as well? I'd be happy to spare some. How is that 9.3x64 of yours working out? You haven't said much about it of late. By the way, what is the longest OAL that will feed in your rifle?

Doc,
My 9.3x64 occupies the place of honor in the safe. It is my fav esthetically and is pretty accurate, about 1.25in at 120 yds. I don't have a chrono, but my most accurate loads have been with 270gr speers over a 71gr of 4350. Have tried RL15 among others, but none as accurate as the 4350 load. I am probably not getting great velocity, but those paper targets go down pretty quick--one shot kills. I would like to try some of the RWS brass along with the Hirtenberger. We need a source of cheap '64 brass. I will measure the OAL and e-mail you my address. Thanks, Bob

Checked with A-Square today. Was quoted a price of $39.50 for 10 unprimed brass. Spoke with Jim Smith. Cobalt
