9.3X62 Husky
I recently purchased a M-46 in 9.3x62, a nice original unmodified rifle. Not a rebore of a 9.3x57. This rifle does not have the thumb notch on the left side of the reciever like my 57. I was under the impression that all these rifles were built on military '96 actions which have the thumb notch for use of stripper clips. Any idea on why this sample does not have this provision? I believe the correct designation is M-46AN. Was a commercial action used? Thanks

This rifle is a cock on close 96 action and not a 98 cock on open action?

There was a commercial version of the basic '96 action after the Model 46 and was sold for a couple of the war years. According to Pettson's site less than 230 46ANs were made. Yours probably doesn't have the checkered cocking aid on the cocking piece? Just a round piece like a '98.

What you have is a 98 version...It is basically an early Husky action or an FN clone so to speak, a much better action than any Mod. 96..

Thanks for the replies guys. It is definately a '96 action. I have a 9.3x57 that is almost indentical and just purchased another but in 6.5x55. I really like these little rifles as they "feel" much like a B model Mauser and are most handy. Bob

Where are you getting yours? I'm looking for a 46 in 6.5 and an AN. Thanks. I have a 9.3 x 57 and I agree they are great rifles and great value too. My 9.3 x 62 is a Stiga which was a less costly rifle made from modified military or surplus actions re-barreled and re-stocked. YThey are interesting too, really Art-Deco in styling and pretty well made. Stiga is mostly known for tournament grade ping-pong equipment today.

Those of you that own unslotted Husqvarna's;
Feel free to e-mail or PM me (for statistical purposes only) more information on them; Stock and sight configuration, barrel length, caliber, serial number and if possible, pictures.
All help appreciated! It's all for a good cause. Smiler

Thanks VFR1, I suspected so. I got my Stiga from TJ and I have been meaning to go up there and pick out some more calibers in early Huskies. Sounds like I need to hurry before you buy 'em all Smiler.

Tiggergate,
Got all the 46's I need, one of each in 6.5x55, 9.3x57 and 9.3x62. What I would like to have is a 246 in 9.3x62. The 6.5 is for my grandson. He will attain proficiency with open sights before ever looking through a scope. Bob

Hi guys;

I just want to let you know that I made the trip to SARCO, and TJ and I went through the "museum collection" of about 70 Husqvarnas. Most of them are examples of older model hammer guns.

They were just starting to unpack the many, many crates of sporting rifles and shotguns so I didn't get to see them. I am sure there are some real treasures amongst the 4500 guns. The model 46AN in 9.3x62 certainly is one. Congrats VFR1.

TJ and the entire SARCO organization showed me top notch hospitality.
