Critter_KillerM70 30-06 for $300
Hi, I got a new gun today a 30-06 m70 winchester. It has a synthetic stock and blued barrel. I bought some 180grn win accubonds. Its gonna be used for some whitetales. Thought i tell yall bout my new purchase. I havent had a chance to shoot it yet but i will have a report this weekend.
Well polish my balls and serve me a milkshake!

Fish30114Critter_Killetr, sounds like an awfully good deal, if the rifle is in even decent condition. The accubonds have done well for me, some folks haven't had the accuracy they expected--but not me....
The terminal performance should be awesome, I hope a big one gives you the proper 'testing medium'
Good Luck--Don

Critter_KillerDecent condition? This rifle is brand spankin new! A mark down at wal-mart to get some shelf space. My mom said it was my x-mas present just a bit early. And to top it off she ask what i wanted under the tree. I was gonna make a joke and said another rifle. Guess what she said she might could manage that!!! I said Mom quit teasing me she said im not teasing you. So lets have a show of hands for mom of the year? BTW what should i ask for under the tree? hahaha

Well polish my balls and serve me a milkshake!

Tex21Critter Killer,
I'd say you're off to a good start! That 30-06 will never let you down. Take care of it and you'll have it for ages!
...I had to wait until I graduated college to get my 30-06.
Good show man!

Deep Space HunterNice rifle. The Mod 70 is a good rifle, course I might be biased I have 2.
But if your mom is willing to get you anouther rifle for christmas I would think something, maybe a savage, in 22-250 would be a good compliment to the 30-06.
and you are lucky, so lucky.

HunterJimJack O'Connor used the '06 a lot too, but didn't write about it like the .270 Win. I have read some comments he made late in his career that he was "stuck" with the .270 to the exclusion of other cartridges he wanted to write about.
Elinor O'Connor used a .30-'06 as her "heavy rifle" for shooting big stuff like tigers in India and I don't know what all in Africa.
I would stick with an objective of 40 mm or less on that Leupold, but you could look at their B&C reticle. The name is goofy, but the idea is great (because it works).

invader66My first bolt gun was a mod 70 in 30-06 back in 1964 and it will be with me always. IMO no better all around rifle.
You will love it.

Critter_KillerYeah i heard bout that B&C reticle. Compensates for drop at diffrent yardages? And as far as the .270 i got that covered to... that was my first rifle .270wsm. hehe

Well polish my balls and serve me a milkshake!

AtkinsonI have shot and hunted the 30-06 a lot and I still have one in my gun cabinet, Its a Ruger 77 with a M-70 3 pos. safty, a mauser extractor for control feed, a reworked trigger, stronger firing pin spring, its about void of blue, stock is custom but all beat to hell, but I will alway have it there, its found a home...
If I was to have only one gun, I would toss all my 416s, 375s, 300s,338s, metrixs, double rifles, and keep that 06, load it up with some 200 gr. woodleighs both in soft and solid and hunt anywhere in the world, come to think of it I have already done that with it.......
