Synthetic or laminate stock?
Which is your choice and why?

I like both, and regular walnut too.

I go for laminated. It is as strong or stronger than synthetic. It's ever bit as stable in damp weather. It's less expensive. It's heavier for heavy recoiling rifles and finally, it's wood.

I own every kind of stock but I just really like the looks of laminated stocks!

For what purpose?

Bad weather and knock around-resistance, along with light weight; the synthetic is your best choice.

Appearance, stability, and potential accuracy without regard to weight; the laminate is the better choice.

But if you want a real gun, get Walnut.

Its nice walnut or Mcmillan synthetics for me. Heavy laminates don't really jive with my lightweight hunting battery.

I'm partial to H-S Precision stocks, should be stronger than McMillan and laminates due to the full length aluminum bedding block that sits inside the stock, I believe the accuracy potential is the greatest with these type stocks, especially if you give it a 'skim' bed job, but I don't have any problems as far as accuracy goes with the H-S sporter stock on my S/S Rem. 7mm08, and it has a great feel to boot, very similar to Remington's 'classic' stock, but with a higher comb, and a bit more heft than the classic stock. Synthetic because it's lighter weight and if you ding it up it's easier to fix.

While a laminate is more stable than other wood stocks in wet conditions a quality synthetic stock such as a mcmillan offers the most stability and strength.
