Ruger45LCPreferred powder for 35 Whelen (pistol bullets)
For those who load pistol bullets in the Whelen, what powder do you find works best? Typically, do rifle designed powders work well or would one be better off using pistol powders? Thanks guys.

MajorCaliberI use 4064 with the 125 gr bullets, works well.

BigBulletTry this one; 14 grains of Unique with 158 grain SWC for 1450 fps. This make an accurate and deadly turkey load. For awhile I had a rifle set up with see thru mounts and had the open sites zeroed for this load and the scope to the high powered stuff. Rabbits, grouse, turkeys and deer were covered. Nothing was safe!

Paul HUnique and 2400, depends on what velocity you are after, unique is best at 1500 and under, 2400 for the 1700-1800 fps range.
