WhelanLad140gr Woodleigh pp .284
how manyt of you guys have used the Woodleigh 140gr weldcore pp?
I have upgraded from the 139 hornady interlocks which I found jst too lightly constructed for Sambar deer.
so my next option is Woodleigh... hopen to hear from some of you who have used this projectile on game, an can note its performance?
ill be using in a 7mm08 so don't expect too much velocity, about 2650-2700 fps , and out to 300m
cheers

RugerBoyhave not use the 140gr Woodleigh PP, but have successfully used the 175gr PP out of my 7x57mm. Very happy with them, great penetration on Blue Wildebees and Sebra. Velocity is 2400fps.

700xcrOnly Woodleigh Bullet I have used was a 350gr. PP bullet in my 375 Ruger Guide Gun traveling 2391fps. with a 3/4" 3-shot group. Haven't shot any game with it yet.

Von GruffI have the 160gn PP for my 7x57 and at 2700fps with exceptional accuracy I wouldn't hesitate to use it for anything in the large deer/wapiti sized game category.
I run those 140 Woodlieghs at 2750 fps in my 7X57. They are a tough bullet.
Can't fault them on Sambar and good on Fallow too.
Cheers.

howdy, that's good to hear mate. I was starting to wonder if I should of traded velocity / trajectory for a few extra GRs of weight...
I am keen as to try these out, also stoked on the Flat Base they have, no boat tail, which I prefer when hunting! bonus
the 7x57 at 2750 sounds grouse! what powder are you using metal?
whats your sight in height and have you recovered any pills? what shot placement generally?
cheers

47 of 2209, 1 1/2" high at 100 I think. Don't worry too much about recoveries, but they do exit on Fallow I know that. Shot placement, nothing fancy, I just go for the big part.

AtkinsonWoodleighs are always a proper pick for a hunting bullet..less than perfect results are rare indeed...I have used them in the 284 Win. 7 mag. and mostly in the 7x57..never a complaint. Same with many other calibers.
