Does anyone have good or bad experience with this rifle? What would be a decent price for a 90% rifle? Thanks for your sharing.

You could buy this new at a dealer for 700-800 dollars for the injected molded stock another 100-200 for the synthetic bell carlson stock. Used depends on how much abuse its taken and how much you want it. I like to buy new unless I'm getting a really good deal.

I bought a used but, never fired syn. Mark V for $550 at a gun shop a few months back. I think I got one heck of a deal.

He also had a used Mark V syn. w/ a sigtron SII 3x9 in Leupie mounts for $625 it had alittle wear but looked pretty good and the bore looked pretty well to the naked eye.

Good Luck!

I have the Accumark and have been very pleased with it, although I would prefer a stainless receiver as well as barrel. I don't have any experience with the other versions.

I didn't state it but I have a stainless steel MkV in the 270 wthby. It is a shooter, and I have been very happy with it. I only shoot handloads and don't usually go too hot, but .80 inch 100 yards was easy with 140 grain accubonds and R19. I picked up some Ramshot Magnum but haven't got around to shooting it yet.

Thanks for the input. I heard of a retail outlet that has them on special for $559. From what I see from ya'll that should be considered a pretty fair price. But how do they shoot? I just haven't had much feedback so I am thinking they are not all that popular.

Are you asking about the Wby MkV in general, or about a .270 Wby (in a MkV) in particular??

If it is only about the caliber, my friend has a .270 Wby built on an MRC M1999 action. It shoots incredibly well, I saw him shoot a group of about 1" at 300 yds... Every rifle is a law on its own, though.

mho, specifically I seek info on the quality of the "Synthetic" model of the Weatherby line of rifles?

I have a Weatherby Mark V Lightweight Synthetic in 280 Remington rechambered to an AI. Haven't found a powder and bullet combination yet where it won't shoot into an inch at 100 yards. I paid $550 NIB five years ago. If you can find a 90% Weatherby Mark V Synthetic in 270 Weatherby for $559, I'd say that is a very good price considering NIB they list for $1300 and are seen with a street price of $859.

"How do they shoot?"

The last 270 WBY Mag Mark V I shot was a .62" 3 shot group at 200 yards w/ 150 Wby factory ammo (Hdy SPILs). Maybe a fluke but, I wouldn't hesitate buying one. Most Mark Vs I've seen were one holers at 100.

Good Luck!
