It looks like it is based off of a .505 Gibbs and would slam an elk to the ground, WAY out there! Does anyone have any info on this round, as it's not listed in Ken Howell's "Custom Cartridges" book?

Judging by the size of that thing, I'd say it probably needs it's own area code.

If it's based on the Gibbs, then the case is longer than the 358 STA by .3in.

Looks like a 7mm RUM! Dang that is a big case! Imagine a barrel burning 358, sounds buffalo flatteningly fun!!

If thats a .500 Basic case to the left, is the RUM based on this? I was thinking it was based on a .404 Jeffery. Show how little attention I pay to the truly huge cases! This .358 Wells Express may run the .338 Lapua into the ground.

Is there a long Matchking in .35? Hmmmmm.........

I fired one once with ammo Fred Wells had loaded -- 250-grain bullet chronographed at 3,500 fps. I said I fired it once. Fred just passed away, but his wife Rachel is still running the shop. 928-445-3655.

Good lord, that thing looks silly! I thought my round was too big! Thing is, I've gotten 250's close to 3150fps with a Jeffery case. I don't see a reason for that as it is, and can't imagine wanting to go 350fps faster, with about twice the powder!
I'm glad someone's done it though. Kinda makes the 358-416 Rigby look almost reasonable! Just think what you could do with a 310g VLD seated to about 4.5"!

Sorry, no, I was making casual referance to the size of the case compared to the bullet diameter. Bloody huge!

For what it's worth the 250 grn. bullet fired at 3500f.p.s. is around 6800 ft.lbs. at the muzzle!

I want to know more. What is the case based on? Is it .500 Basic? What is the case capacity? How does it compare to say one of the RUM's or .30-378/ .338-378 Wby?

I really don't see this as a "need" but long range toy really. It is interesting to say the least. Nate

From the picture, it looks like it is based on a .505 Gibbs......and that is a WHOLE LOT bigger than a .338/378 Wby!
