Almost on the bandwagon
I wanted to do a project and couldn't decide on the cartridge. Vapo sorta led me to 9.3x62 and doing some reading here figured why not. It looks naked without checkering but I'm sending it out for that. Thanks to TooManyTools for the installing the MRC barrel and sights and a real nice blue job. Here is a quick pic or two. I'll take some better ones once it's checkered. The wood is a piece of turkish from hunter bid. It was a fun project, now I need to learn to checker well enough to risk screwing things up.

Beautiful work Dempsey! Did you do the stock? I really like it and it's only going to get better looking once it's checkered. I love the grip geometry, looks about perfect for my tastes.

John did a job for me earlier this year. The work was fast, looks great and John was a really nice guy to work with.

thumb 2 thumbs up! thumb

Thanks, I did the stock work. The wood was really nice to work with. The one I did before this was Claro, might not do another one, big difference for me. John is a great guy to do business with, I'd reccomend him to anyone.

Looks great. Who do you have slated for the checkering?

Mark Penrod is working one over for me just now... going with a 58 cm barrel... what's this one?

Very nice....pretty wood!!!!! This isn't a stock to practice checkering......send it to someone with experience.....I'm sure you know such a person.

Let us know how it shoots......and tell that Toomany Tools to answer his PMs..... rotflmo

I going to see if Arnold Erhardt will checker it for me. He's done other's and I'm always pleased. I'm nearing completion of my dedicated work shop built in the end portion of my garage. Soon as I'm all set up I'm going to take a break from other projects and concentrate on checkering. I've accumalated a few pratice stocks to learn on. I hope I have a knack for it, it would make it nice and cheaper to do all my own stuff wood wise. I really enjoy this type of stuff, a wonderfull hobby. Smiler Thanks for the compliments.

Thanks. I'm real curious to how it shoots. Reports on MRC barrels seem to really cover the spectrum from poor to great. I'm still a ways off from shooting it. I still need reloading supplies for the cartridge and it will probably take awhile for the checkering but I look forward to hunting with it this fall.

Very nice indeed...
You do a heck of a nice job with the layout of the stock. I really like the looks of the figure in your turkish walnut. I'm learning that wild figure can over come the rest of the rifle...( less is better). I still want one eye popping blank...but they are priced along with the current gold rate! The wood for that rifle is a perfect match as it all flows to make for one nice rifle, will look 10x better after checkering!
ENJOY

just to let you know, Cabelas carries 9.3x62. Take a gander. I helped open the Ft.Worth Cabelas store, and I remember the rounds well.

9.3, the barrel is 23 inches, I've seemed to have settled on that length on various rifles.

There are some beautiful rifles on this sight, but yours really stands out as unique. That is great craftsmanship and the unique lines on that stock grab you. Thanks.
