trouthunterdjSelling Rifles
Hi all,
I am looking at selling some rifles and was wondering how to send rifles.
Who to ship through?
Do I just need to ask for their FFL?
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks as always,
ddj

vapodogIf you list a rifle for sale and the buyer is not of the same state you reside in then you must ship to his FFL holder and he must first send you a FFL copy for your records.....
If you list rifle for sale it's best to state in your add that the buyers FFL holder must accept shipment from a private citizen.....there is no legal requirement to ship FROM an FFL holder.....
You may ship VIA USPS or UPS but package well and seal well....I use a lot of duct tape.
I try to disguise anything that might suggest there's a firearm in the package.

mhoIn addition, hasn't CA added a whole bunch of additional redtape?? So beware of any CA "specialties" should your buyer be from that state.

Amen!!
It took me many hours of work reconditioning the minds of the misguided sales people at my local FFL to this fact. I actually had to print out a copy of the section in the ATFB reg's that specifically covers this and take it to them to convince them. MANY gun stores do us a disservice by DEMANDING than an FFL must ship to a receiving FFL. I don't deal with these stores.

Jim KobeAnd then...there is the meathead dealer who demands a copy of the shipper's FFL or he won't transfer the firearm.

Doc224/375I believe in most cases it's about money , when a
store is less than willing to transfer .
It's paper work just the same as if they were
selling a firearm of their own , yet the profit
margin is missing .
I find this to be true when attempting too transfer firearms , prices vary considerably .
As Jim pointed out " Meathead " mentality is part of the problem also . When a firearms store
is less than cooperative with a customer , they are failing to recognize a potential future
customer and sales .
I always return too the most cooperative an knowledgeable store regardless of price .
Although in honesty I find them to be the lessor expensive also . Experience counts !.

ZedoRequiring the FFL shipping indemnifies the receiver against stolen or unlawful firearms.
