First: Do the double square bridge versions of the BRNO 21 and Zg47 use the same rings as the current CZ 550?

Second: Most of the Mod 21's I see have a round action and safety on the left side of the bolt. Recently I have seen two model M21 small ring guns, both dated 1951 with a ZG47 type safety and double bridge, they both had shotgun type trigger guards and double set triggers. Is this a common varation or something scarce?

2. I think the safties where modified, but that's just a guess on my part. The shotgun style triggerguard is standard fare.

I've also seen a few 21Hs with ZG47 receivers, bolts and ZG47 single trigger, all matching serial numbers. Zbrojovka Brno must have mixed parts for awhile. Some refer to them as "hybrids". 21/22s were made between 1946-1955, ZG47s from 1950-1962 (although most between 1956-1962). About 40K 21/22s were made, about 20K ZGs.

I had a ZG47 .30-06 made in 1956 that had a 21/22 style bolt shroud and safety. All else on the gun was ZG47 parts. I always assumed someone changed the parts but it could have been done at the factory.

What are the earliest commonly available ZGs? The earliest I've seen is 1956. 1957 seems a popular year.

Hey Forrest, I just bought an all original zg-47 8X64s from Kebco (nice guy with some very cool guns for sale) and have a NIB ZeissJena 6X rail scope sitting in a ZKK 602 mount just like yours. The checkering on mine is different though.
This is going to be a fun hunting season.



That .30-06 for sale on GB was mine at one time. It's not original, but it's in fantastic shape.

Terry, 8x64S is a great caliber, you will like it. An early Brno brochere on the ZG-47 recommends it as the "all-around" caliber.

This is not a pecar scope, it is a GDR-Zeiss (or Zeiss-Jena) scope!

No, fla30-06 was refering to this Gun Broker ad when he said that. Not the rifle pictured, hence my comment "That .30-06 for sale on GB was mine at one time. It's not original, but it's in fantastic shape."
