Im looking at getting a T3 but Im abit unsure about the 'plastic' mag. Have you guys had any experience with them? Does anybody make metal ones for them?

I had the same concerns as you when I bought my 1st T3. Those concerns were unfounded. They are extremely tough and simple to clean out etc.

I haven't tried it but I would imagine that they are strong enough to drive over. Other thing about them - rounds seem to feed flawlessly into the action from the mag.

Only downside - they are not cheap - here in Ausatralia about $110

Another advantage - they don,t rust!!

MLG hit it on the head. They are fine but are expensive but I think alot of clips are getting pricey today. As far as feeding goes.....
I KNOW OF NO OTHER GUN THAT FEEDS AS NICE AS A TIKKA....they are wonderfull---even empty cases feed perfectly when checking headspace etc!!

My Tikka T3 (lite, in .270) feeds great, and the mag seems tough enough. I wish the mags were about $30 less though (current is $70, I think). Anyway, get a dummy round and try the "upside-down feed" test with one at a gun shop.

Boy, I wouldn't care if they were made out of cookie dough, (not really)the way my T3 270 shoots is astounding. I had, and still don't particularly like the plastic, but we all have to remember that it's POLYMER, not just cheap plastic and it is made super tough. That is also what makes the gun, just the right weight. I don't give it another thought, because they are such a fine rifle and the polymer parts are done right. Believe me, I work for GE Plastics where we do the testing on some of this stuff and it's some really good stuff.
I guess we're all just trained to think all metal and heavy is the feel of a quality firearm, which it is, but that doesn't mean polymer parts aren't just as good and appropriate for the use.

I have a T3 Lite in 308.
Like everyone says, it may be plastic but it if you get one it will be the best feeding magazine you will ever own.

A good thing about the T3 design is you can drop a cartridge into the ejection port when your mag is empty and it will feel just fine too.
