Looking at the statistics, the rimmed version of this cartridge is about 5-8% down on MV and energy downrange. I assume that is due to the decreased capacity of the rimmed cartridge. Anyone have load data and real life experience for the rimmed cartridge that runs "hotter" than the commercial cartridges? Has anyone tried the 6 gram bullets from Moeller in Germany?

I thought the pressure limits are based on the break-open firearms most common to the round. In a strong single shot action they could be loaded virtually the same. In Quickload, the case capacity specifications are within the margin of manufacturing variations; 60.0 for the rimmed and 59.50 for the rimless.

that was my understanding also. in a #1 or similar,or good modern break-open i see no reason they couldn't be loaded to the same (or modern) pressures.

I have both and they can be loaded the same. Case capacity is also the same.

The rimmed version are probably held back to duplicate the ammo old doubles were regulated for and/or in the case of bbfs and drillings for what they were sighted for etc.

Also bolt actions have greater extracting power were the break open and falling blocks will be pleased with the lower pressure loads.
