Lloyd Smaleany idea what its worth?
remington classic 300 H&H. its been hunted with so its not perfect but its a very nice gun. Any idea what I should ask for it?
Go to GunBroker, click on advanced search, then on completed items (you will have to log on). Enter the description, make, model and caliber of your rifle and you should get a run down on what such rifles have sold for (and not sold for) recently.
I entered "Remington Model 700 .300 H&H" and got a lot of listings, mostly the same item over and over again. One rifle, NIB, sold for $1000. Another, a used rifle, sold for $775 with a Weaver scope. The vast majority of auctions closed with no bids, but you can get the idea of how much is too much.
On the items which are bid on, you should check the auction to see if they actually sold. They may not have reached the reserve price.

jimatcataround the gunshows here in the cental/west Texas area, I see interesting calibers like this priced over $700... they don't sell for that, usually will go for $4-600 range... I picked up a nice .264 win mag on a 700 for $400...

buckeyeshooterI sold one 2 years ago for $750.00. It had been fired but no marks on the wood or metal and I had the box and paperwork, along with a factory letter. I think I could have gotten more as it sold in 2 days from delivery to the consignment dealer I used.

AtkinsonI sold one, mint condition about a month ago for $1100. and another in very good condition overall for $895. both plus postage and Ins. of about $50.00 as I recall. They are a decent firearm investment these days IMO..Pre 64 Mod. 70s bring more. Grand caliber, my favorite of the 30 cal, magnums. Handloaded its absolutely awesome..and you may add just a little nostalgia to that.
