New Backup Gun and Eland Rifle
Just got my Sako 85 back from Wayne/AHR.

Iron sights, barrel band, cerakote, and glass bedding.

Very unlikely I will use the iron sights. But I just like the look. I know we should all be practical but I like this rifle much more with iron sights than before.

Also like the barrel band. Just feels like a real rifle with a barrel band.

Probably my hunting battery for a long time - 375H&H (main gun), 9.3x62 and 375 Ruger. I will have another 375 Ruger set up with a trijicon scope and a browning BLR in 375 Ruger soon.

Thanks Wayne.

Why did he not put the bolt on the correct side of the rifle while he was at it?

Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong;

I told wayne easier just not to back up Biebs. Let Biebs smoke this 3 cigs he needs to relax before a shot, shoot, miss and let the animals live (for Cecil's sake).

Smoking Biebs

Missing Biebs (such terrible marksmanship)

Happy Biebs after I kill his animals for him

So! Bob backed him up? So there's only one hole in the hide. A good guide is Bob!

Mike- So what you have is a left bolt, right port rifle? Very interesting. Only seen this setup on benchrest rifles.

I sure hope this was a joke as I didn't think party hunting was allowed.

Mike, 423 yards, and as I remember, mine was the only bullet in the animal. The loggers are still cursing you out, hitting copper fragments every time they cut down another Black Spruce :-)

To dig your 20-30 bullets out, I would need a chainsaw!

You just like the look of iron sights and that's a good thing and one of these days you will need them, its just a matter of when...

I would not own a big game rifle of any kind without iron sights for back up, and I even sometimes use the irons with a scope for backup..Oh btw, I also like the look of them! Smiler

And why not. I love iron sights on my guns. It just "looks right". I with you 110%.

What's its barrel length 682E?

The Remington 788 lefties came left bolt, right port. I still have my lefty 308 Win that I bought in 1975.

Ok, Im confused, you shoot left handed it appears but you skin and butcher right handed, have you always been confused? I have! Smiler

Actually I hunt a LOT with just iron sights..I hunt coyotes with an iron sighted 25-35, 308, and 30-30 quite a bit...I hunt deer almost every year in Texas with the 25-35 or 348 Win., shots are 100 yards from blind to feeder, and the whitetail are 100 to 150 lbs..I use irons on buffalo in Tanzania, but have a scope option handy with QD's...Hunting Jacks and cotton tail rabbits with a iron sight 22 is an awesome way to spend a day..I have a special place near Sun Valley Idaho where the elk bush up in some ungodly think stuff, and iron sighted rifle like my .348 is perfect there as shots are quick and very close..

To those who have not, or have only limited experience with irons, do yourself a favor and give it a try, you'll be surprised, how accurate they are and how much fun to hunt with..

IMO, lot of folks shun iron sights because they have never used them. If they learned to use ions, it would please them to no end..Eyesight is not a shooters problem, just get a pair of glasses!! Adds a world of enjoyment to shooting..

I am competent with irons from point blank to 200 yards give or take 50 yards, and love to hunt Mule deer behind my house with the old Winchesters. Most of that shooting is off hand.

That is not me skinning - its the Robert Redford of gun trading also known as Biebs.

I am very right handed but I am left eye dominant. I only shoot left handed.

I am totally focused right now on suppressors and sbr rifles - trying to load up before trust rules change. After that most of my gun dollars will focus on optics. I will practice with iron sights - my aks serve as good practice. I don't like peep sights.

While I've never had the opportunity and privilege to meet Biebs in person, I've enjoyed corresponding with him on-line. Whoever is trying to give him a hard time, I think the point is, the moose is dead.
