model 70 super grade question
I have a new super grade in 3006. I was just in the process of putting on my gloss rings and bases. Once I got them on, I noticed that none of my scopes would fit. The gap from the ring ends is 6". I cant fing a scope body to fit that in gloss. The rings and bases are leupold. Should I just turn the rear base around? That would give me some clearance but it will make the base hang over the opening to the chamber. Thanks.

BigBTurning it around should work fine.

BiebsLeupold also makes extension rings for just such mounting problems.
If I turn the rear base around, A spent case will hit the base and fall back in the gun. I just tried it with an empty. Guess I'll have t buy different rigns or bases.

ghostrider272I use the Warne mounts and they offer two extended front bases that can set your scope back I think up to 1/2". Check their webside.
I also keep both slots close to the ejection port of the rifle. It ha allowed me to mount most scopes with ease.

BISCUTFor hunting rifles I also use Talley. I like the one piece aluminum the best. Years later and a lot or rounds downrange even my 338RUM has not needed re-tightening -- I do use blue locktite on em.

Here ya go. You can reverse the front base & it will not interfere W/ejection of spent cases or loading of cartridges.
http://www.midwayusa.com/viewP...productNumber=161904I have similar bases on this M98. Note the small amount of overhang @ the front of the action.

DavidI use Leupold QRW bases and PRW or QRW rings with no problems on all my M70s, including the express action
