Ive been wanting to put a synthetic stock on my Sauer 202 Stutzen rifle in 9.3x62 mm, this would be the stock of the Sauer 202 Outback, and I would only use it when the weather is bad to avoid damaging the fine wood of the stock.
Since the Sauer 202 rifle is a modular design, kind of a Mecano, where you can change barrels, stocks, bolts stocks etc, I thought this would be a simple matter.

I e-mailed Sauer about this matter and got the following answer:

Quote:

Dear Sir

Unfortunately it is not possible to put a synthetic stock on your Stutzen because the connection between barrel and fore-end tip is a patented solution. If you would disassemble your rifle to mount a synthetic stock it would not be possible for you to mount the wooden stock again.

Best regards

Ive disassembled the stock of my rifle for cleaning purposes several times and never had any problems with reassemble or function, I really dont know what problem Mr. Klotz is referring to.
Can anyone put some light on this subject?

Many thanks,

Sounds a little like they dont want anybody to mess with their rifles...

How about asking the maker of the synthetic stock?

If there is nothing at the underside of the barrel or inside the nose cap and stock, and you already disassembled it and the barrel is just resting in the stock, free floated, what should be the problem? OTOH German engineers have the reputation to know some things...

Let us know the outcome, H

Hi, aHunter

I did ask.
The stock would be of another Sauer 202 rifle, the Outback model.
The Sauer 202 stock is a special design, and I dont know of any other maker that offers stocks for this rifles.
