I'm getting ready to load some ammo for my Marlin 30-30 with emphasis towards coyote in dense orchard. I was wondering if anybody had any experience with light bullet loads in this caliber, I can't find any information for the 110gr VMAX, just 125gr stuff. Thanks for the help.

Hodgdon's 26th edition manual has reload info on the 110 grain round nose bullets.

I am sure you are aware that the bullets are going to have to be one in the chamber and one in the tube only, since they are pointed.

If velocity is your quest, try 30 grains of RL 7. It will give you a velocity of 3000 fps and excellent accuracy in my Winchester 94 and Marlin 336 SS. I have used it with Sierra's 110 grain Hollow Points.

Thanks for the help seafire. I don't plan to put more than one in the tube. This does bring up a good question though. Since the VMAX bullet has a polymer tip, is it strong enough to fire the next primer in line? I'm not going to try it, I like my hands just the way they are, but something to wonder about.

You may have to shorten the neck of the case to get overall length short enough with the spire syle bullets and not having neck overhang the ogive. Best accuracy may also mean a much longer overall length than you can run thru the action. Use them as a single shot in the lever carbines.
