Re: Wife got me a Bar .270 win./ got lots of questions
1. VERY good deer cal, would not rate any other higher.
I have two friends shooting factory loads through their .270 BAR. Both are shooting Hornady Custom Load 130 grain SST's, 140 grain SST's would work just as well with maybe a little more penetration. They are deadly on deer in close and at long range. Make sure you are using the Custom Load and not the Light Magnum. Light Magnums are not recommended for semi-autos.

Today my wife brought me home a new Bar safari in .270 win., No boss, shiney stock, nice wood.(birthday) Now I need some advice. I'm going ask several questions, please help me out.

3. How could I get the shine off the stock without
a complete refinish job.

Buster, I'm going to give you a little advice. Don't take the shine off that stock so quick. You can bet your woman is proud of the nice stock on the rifle and you better suffer and let her be proud of her man and his rifle. Be sure and brag on her and the rifle even if it couldn't hit a 16 wheeler across the street. Been there and done it. Hunt a couple of years with it and then refinish it.

358,

Bass Pro has Bell & Carlson synthetic stocks for the BAR
they are only available in Mossy Oak Break Up though. Price is 169.99 so I guess it depends how nice you want to keep the original Browning wood... Bruce
