Well I am off to Gunison Colorado this week to hunt elk with Dave Mapes and Quacking Aspen outfitters. I will be usibg the 348 Turnbull which is a variation of the 348 Ackley Improved. I am shooting a 250 grain Barnes original at 2400 FPS in a new Browning 71 and I have mounted a Burris 1.5 X 4 scope on the barrel. The scope has QD bases and I also have iron sights on as well for the closer shots.

I tend to use more than enough gun.

Doug,
I wish you the best of luck and hope the rifle performs well for you. I wish I was headed to the Rockies this time of year.
BTW, some photos of the rifle would be nice. I hope you can post some of it leaning against a big bull.
