Looking for value of Winchester model 100 .284
A friend is thinking about selling this rifle
It's in good shape, good bluing, no rust, in 284 cal.
The serial number is 186781 and I think it was manufactured in 1967

Any ideas of the price range it might be worth?

Its a later model 100, so its less value than the early model, but in .284 its still got a premium on it. The stock looks a little rough but it just may be the pictures???

At a Idaho gun show, it would be on the table for $700 to $800, and on Sunday afternoon just before closing time it would sell for $600. to $650. as a rule..

That said, remember that used gun prices are determined locally, not nation wide, its a supply and demand to the area, or what is popular in ones local..

So an offer for $900 would be a good offer to take.

Thanks.

Gun looks to be in good shape but I wouldn't go over $700 myself.

Just a tip if you do buy the gun and handload for it - keep the OAL at 2.8" or it will NOT feed smoothly whatsoever. The 100 will not tolerate varying OALs regardless of what the chamber will handle. Learned that lesson the hard way over 25 years ago. Kept within specs my 100 ran like a clock albeit the low comb made it recoil all out of proportion to what the .284 round generates.

This looks to be a post-64 model, as mentioned above, with stamped basket weave checkering. They definitely do not bring as much as a pre-64 model with cut checkering, everything else being equal.
