Thinking about a new 7-08
This is hands-down my favorite medium game cartridge. Many rifles so-chambered have passed through my collection as I have not found one that tickled my fancy. However, I think my search is over: a Sako 85 Grey Wolf topped with a hig-quality 3-9x40-ish scope outta do just fine for my "one rifle to do it all in Michigan". I've got a Sako 75 Hunter in .338 WM that is exceedingly accurate and IMHO, the best factory offering under $1300 available.

Praise be to the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.

You know I have often thought of one of these in a Savage 99. I just haven't found the cash to get it built. If I live long enough it will happen.

If Savage were to ever bring back the 99 I think it would be THE cartridge for it.

As a general rule, people are nuts!

There is something to be said for similar rifles but in different chamberings. If you like the Sako then go for it.

I'm a fan of the old Rem 600s and built a 7mm-08 on that action. It is a sweet little rifle.

The Kimber is another great option in 7mm08.
