No, you can never go wrong with a $300, 30-06 Remington 700 with a Leupold scope.
Even if you just use it as a loaner, foul weather, 4 wheeler, atv, tackle box, bottom of the boat, carried as a spare, junker.

OR as your first line primary hunting rifle. Big Grin

Looks just like my very first hunting rifle even the same scope. Your going to a lot of enjoyment out of that Remington Leo combination.

My first rifle!! No Leupold on the one I had though. My mom bought it for my 14th birthday in 1984. I think it was more than $300 then! Just for the rifle! TOUCHDOWN!!

Gotta love the guy that needs money! I have two rifles bought under similarr circumstances. The first was a Winchest M70 fwt, laminated stock, .223 rem, traded a worn out motocross bike for it. A couple years later, the same guy asked if I wanted another rifle. I told him I didn't have any money, but he went in the house and got the rifle to show me...it was a Rem 700 BDL, 6mm Rem, wih a bushnell scope. Ended up getting the rifle, scope, and 150 rounds of ammo (he has shot 10 through it) for $180.00. I still have both rifles (NOT FOR SALE!) Smiler

Great buy!!

Demonstrates something my ol' man taught me...

"Never be in a hurry to sell, and never be in a hurry to buy, anything."

In a way I feel sorry for the guy who sold it...

Good price, but I like my Custom M98 in 30-06 with old steel tube Weaver I got for $100 better. It shoots 3/4" at 200 yds!
