It's kinda fun to stir the pot once in awhile.

The complete shooter must have at least one black powder cartridge rifle and use black in it.
Maybe I am a complete nut... The only factory loaded ammo I have shot in the last five years is .22rf, 22Hornet, 30'06 and 35 Whelen!

Do they give awards for the most pointless thread?

I look at the list of calibers and rifles and have to wonder, did Elmer Keith ever mention a metric caliber like the 9.3x62mm? I love the 35 Whelen but think any .308 Winchester off-spring or any variant on the .30-06 Springfield works just fine. My list is pitiful compared to all that are mentioned here:

As to rifle types, never fired a Savage 99, Marlin 336 or Weatherby in any caliber.
I am still working my way through the calibers I own until I've experienced every one in the game fields. Not too likely to ever take an African big five animal, but a hard cast bullet from the 458 Lott might work on an American buffalo. With appologies to Jack O'Connor and W. D. M. Bell, no 270 Win, or 7mm exposure either. Of course if you've never mastered revolver hunting, you can't truely master rifle shooting, but that's another forum.

There are too many nominations for any awards committee to properly consider.

Gotta have a 9.3×64 Brenneke to be a complete shooter. :-). And a 6.5 Creedmoor. And a 17 Hornady Hornet and a 458 Win Mag. . And those will pretty well do everything needed.
The 64 B. Is so rare that a lot of wildcats are a lot easier to feed.

The only two on the OP's list I haven't played with is the .458 Win. Mag. and the 9.3 X 62. The rest I have either played with casually or seriously, depending on whether I owned them or they belonged to a friend.

I don't know if I have enough years left in my life to remember all that have passed through my hands.

Right now my love affair is with a 10.5X47R, 9 X 71 Peterlongo, 9.3 X 75R Nimrod, 9 X 57 Mauser. 11.15 X 60R Mauser in a nice German DR and the still somewhat common though not available over the counter at most places, the 8.15 X 46R. How's that for "obsolescent and obsolete"?

I still have and shoot my two Sharps in 45-90 and 40-70 and a somewhat neglected Ballard in 45-100. Then there's the E. M. Reilley DR in 500 BPE that still brings a grin when used with Nitro for black loads....and some others that load from either the breech with a lever, bolt or falling block or from the muzzle. Oh...just recently a friend has been kind enough to let me play with his double in 9.3 X 74R.

Jens, I just knew you were going to post the .333 Jeffery. Still think it would be the nuts on a Ruger No. 1 action with 26 or 18-inch barrel and express sights.
Steve, in spite of the usual AR name-calling, this is a fun thread.
I have not yet owned a .257 Roberts for some reason, although I have had .25 Rem., .25-35 and .250 Savage rifles. Always wanted a Model 8 in .25 Remington.
Also wanted a .256 Mannlicher ...

There was mention of an M99 .300...I have a take-down .250/3000 and an M722 .300...OK?
A Mannlicher, hmmm, My 7x57 is a Mannlicher-stocked, butterknife-handled Mauser..count?
Can I count my .300 WinMag? And my M71 has been converted to a .375/348 Imp, and it is slightly less powerful than the .375 H&H...very slightly!

My .35 is a .357 Herrett in a weird handgun..prolly not, huh?
Obsolete? Hmmm. .256 WinMag in M92 carbine, or .25/35 (Imp) in M94 Winchester?
My 6.5/06 Imp and .270 Win AI are both in FN M98s, so I can have a metric, but I doubt I'll ever get around to a 9.3. My 8x57 became my 7x57, and my '06 became my .300Mag.
I would like to agree about the Walmart thing.
Everybody seems to agree that buying new would be nice, but SOME things HAVE to be bought used, therefore put the line where you want. I've rebarrelled several times, so one gun fell under several catagories. A lot can be accomplished if you can do SO>ME of the work yourself.

Crazyhorse: I owned one of those rascals just long enough to lose some spendy brass in the sage brush. Always thought it would be fun to try to strafe a jack rabbit with one. I think a Winchester 1907 would make a fine javelina rifle.
