vapodogWho is importing Zastava?
Totally lacking on Remington's website is the M-798 and 799.....
BTW also missing are the youth models of M-7!
Does this mean Remington dropped Zastava.....or (IMO more likely) vice versa?
link to Remingtn.

tasunkawitkoif so, it's a shame - i've got a zastava imported by herters in .308 and love every millimeter of it.

vapodogRemington cut their own throat IMO by stealing this import from Chas Daly and raising the price dramatically and then stocking them so poorly that a beaver could knaw a stock better.....
Maybe we can have a decent importer again.
Maybe Brownells will take up the task as they tried for it in the past!

TC1I kind of wondered if it wasn't the end of the Zastava line when Bass Pro shops ran the Remington mini mausers on sale for $385 last month. Remington has a reputation for having fire sales for the remaining inventory when they discontinue a line of rifles.

vapodogIt also appears as Remington has dropped much of their Russian guns!

Doc224/375Perhaps it's a sign of things yet to come .
Maybe zastava wanted real money or Gold as payment !. US currency can't be looked upon favorably now days
especially overseas !. Just a thought .

Funny enaugh, I saw one in a local gunshop among genuine Remington rifles, labelled Remington 798 but the receiver was stamped "Zastava"
Regarding the looks of it, come on, its fairly cheap. The stock wasnt really my cup of tea, but it might be a nice first rifle for someone. What really bothered me about it was the choice of cartridge...a 308 Winchester on a long action, looked really out of place. But thats just me.

tasunkawitkoGBF - i've got a nice walnut stock on my zastava .308, so i can't comment on the stock, but the zastava action is a good performer and certainly capable of excellent accuracy.
i could be wrong and someone can feel free to correct me, but i believe that the action on the zastava is an intermediate length originally intended for the 8x57 mauser. this is at least the case with mine as the action was built during WW2. the larger action and magazine allow me to seat any sized bullet to any desired length.

JustinL01I heard from a pretty reliable source that Remington was going to discontinue the 798 and 799, so that probably is the case...
