Bill/OregonSIG announces the .277 Fury
Interesting. I like their approach to a hunting-weight precision rifle. Hope it delivers the goods.

LamarI'm not gonna go look but if it is a 130gr bullet at 3,000 fps tarted up in some re-hash of a 1950's case innovation I'm gonna laugh my ass off.

I can see Gibby designing a .277 XCB bullet for it, but he won't like that 8.5 twist short barrel. He'll put a 3 groove 36 FOOT Broughton barrel on it!!!!

44magLeoI went and looked. From what they said the 227 Fury is the 6.8 SPC built of a case made with a steel head and brass body.
The rifle is basically a bolt action AR15. Except for it being a bolt action it looks like an AR15.
Nothing to get to excited about.

I don't think so, it's more like a 6.8x51. Yes it does have a steel/brass case. Think about it there's no way you're going to get over 3000 fps in a 16 inch barrel with a 6.8 SPC case with a 130-135 grain bullet!

44magLeoI went back and checked. They didn't say 6.8 SPC, they said the 6.8 ammunition they military is testing.
They didn't mention bullet weights that I saw. Perhaps that is in another article.
Anyway it's not anything I'm going to run right out and buy.
The guy that runs Redding reloading built a 27-08 back in the 70's or 80's. His wife wanted something a bit lighter and not kick to hard to hunt with. The 27-08 is what he built her.

snowmanI built a .277/308 Ackley Imp this summer. 130 gr at a touch over 3100 fps out of a short action rifle that weighs about 2 lbs less than most 270's. I kind of like it
