Tikka T3 Varmint 30.06 accuracy
I was told that Tikka T3 Varmint in 30.06 could be less accurate than 308 and 6,5x55

Anyone tried the T3 Varmint in 30.06 and can tell about it's accuracy with different ammunition or reloads

I think your source of information may mean that the 308 or 6.5x55 may be an inherently more accurate cartridge....may or may not be. Every rifle is different, and the Tikkas have a reputation for great accuracy. Go with the 30-06 as you want, for the versatility of that great cartridge.

In theory the .308 and 6.5 may be more accurate then the 30.06. But unless you shooting bench rest rifles, it unlikely you will ever notice the difference.

Its always great to have bench rest accuracy in your hunting rifle Smiler

Does Tikka even make the Varmint model in .30-06?

I ordered a SS in 30.06 today and will keep my fingers crossed for its accuracy

It was a gunsmith that told me about the problem, but I believe it's some of his costumers that has told him that it could be be a problem with the 30.06, and this will then be based on inherited accuracy

I don't think there should be a noticeable difference in any of them. 30-06 is simply a longer 308 anyway.

Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too!

Yesterday I did the first shots with my new T3 Varmint, first I wanted my preferred hunting bullet to go well and the Barnes TTSX 168 grain did well with 57 grain URP behind and gave 878 m/s – 2880 f/s, It was pretty windy yesterday so I’ll do another test when there is no wind

Dr. Duc
I never had a Tikka of any kind that didn't shoot well.
