<schapman43>.338 RUM Vs .338 Lapua
I know this has come up before but I'm going at it with some guys on another site. According to the info posted on accuratereloading the .338 RUM has higher velocities which if I'm not mistaken translates to higher energy. Is this correct?

PCTo be honest mate I think there 6 to one 1/2 a dozen the other !!
My mate and I are trying to aquire an AR 30 M in .338 lapua but if we can not get it or can not afford the TRG Sako in .338 lapua then we will settle for the rem 700 .338 rum, by telling you this I am trying to support my point that which vere was easier to get components for in yoiur area buy.

<Bill T>I'll stick with my Accumark in .338-378 Weatherby Magnum. It will drive Sierra 300 Gr. Matchkings with the best of them. Bill T.

PCBill do you have the synthetic model with accubrake ??

<Bill T>PC, Yes I do. It is currently the only model that Weatherby has the .338-378 avaliable in. I'm very happy with the rifle, but admit I would have prefered it in the Mark V DeLuxe. The Accubrake is standard on this model and works well. Recoil is about the same as my unbraked Remington 700 in .300 Win. Mag. The barrel comes with a 1 in 10" twist as standard. This twist rate stabilizes the 300 Gr. Sierra Matchking fine. Groups commonly run under 1" @ 100 yards. About the only disadvantage is how fast the barrel heats up when your touching off over 100 grains of powder every time you pull the trigger. Bill T.

<Matt77>YOu know what, this thing must have sold quick. I think the reason you couldn't get the link to work is because I did a search yesterday and it wasn't on the website anymore.
I'm saying, $949.00 US doesn't seem to bad for this gun.
