Singleshot03Info on 7 x 68
Anyone have any info on the 7x68. I came across a rifle today and assume it must be a wildcat because I can not find any info on the cartridge.

Was wondering the same thing.
I think I want to own that rifle

The 68 RWS case was wildcatted all the way from 6.5 ( which became mainstream ) all the way up to 416. 7mm 7.62mm 8.5mm 9.3mm 9.5mm (375) right up to 416
the 375 also became mainstream and CIP accepted

graybirdI would say it is a wildcat off the 6.5x68mm and the 8x68mm Shuler. These were the two parent offerings and from there it produced the wildcats ALF mentioned.
The original 8x68 was attributed to Schuler but we must remember it was the Schuler company and not old man Schuler himself as he was dead by then.
RWS made the ammo for it.
RWS was closely linked with Brenneke as DWM was linked with Mauser
Now a engineer by name of Lempel Furth ( ? Spelling) at RWS wildcatted the 8x68 and the 6.5 was born.
The 375 version on this case also became commercial ie CIP accepted as the 375 Holderlin
( umlaut on the o )
