bbruceRe: 7mm'08 vs 7mm WSM vs 270 WSM???
The 7mm-08 is a wonderful round.I've be using one for the past 6 years. Not to much recoil. I've even killed two elk with one. Favorite load 4320 powder 39 grains 140 gr. nosler. You can't go wrong with a remington or a ruger.
I was faced with a similar recently and went for a 300wsm which I have just taken delivery of.i have not fired it yet and maybe i will chage my mind when I do. My two main hunting rifle are the 308 for short/medium ranges and my 300wsm for loger ranges.
Looking at Winchester's factory specs I found that the 300wsm was as flat shooting if not better than the 270wsm. If you can tolerate just a little more recoil, why buy a 270? Bet its going to be more of a barrel burner than the 300wsm and the 300 has a much greater range of projectiles than the 270 in just about any manufacturer you care to mention.
As for the 7mmwsm - sure its a great round but not as great or as practical as the 300wsm.
The 7mm 08 is a very good round I am sure but I would rather have a 308 any day. Maybe its not as flat shooting but once again practically its a better all rounder with factory ammo available anywhere and a huge range of it and also projectiles.
Maybe I am missing something???
I wish you the best with your choice - at the end of the day its personal preference and you will not make a bad choice with any of them!!
