"Idealstudsaren E.S. Z.M. Algen", marked Swedish sporting mauser rifles?
Does anyone have any information on Swedish sporting rifles marked "Idealstudsaren E.S. Z.M. Algen". I have located one, and I would like more information on it. Using Google translate, I believe that "Idealstudsaren" means "Ideal Rifle" in the Swedish language. Other than that, I have no other info. Thanks in advance.

Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984:

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

I'm not a 100% on this , the one I saw had been made for a Swedish Arms inspector .

Manufactured at the Mauser Oberndorf factory Germany .

I believe it had something to do with Contract acceptance or some such thing .

That is correct. Also, does it say "Algen" or "Älgen"? I guess Algen is a town? If it says "Älgen" it is Swedish for "the moose".

I have a gun with the same wording and a moose head logo, means "Ideal Rifle for Moose" in Swedish. I suspect it was some ones idea of marketing for a old reworked military mauser.

That is what I suspected. I think it is a cool rifle anyway. Thanks for your input.

I agree, I also thought it was cool. However my collection of "cool" guns I will never fire has increased to the point that some need to go, this being one. Simpsons want $700 for there's, I'll take $350 for mine if the buyer promises to give it a good home.

Ken,

If yours looks as good as Simpsons, or is even close, I'll take it.
