Taping a Barrel

Taping a Barrel
i have a Stainless steel barrel & i was thinking to tape the barrel with an allen camo tape (NOT Duct Tape)will that change the accuracy ? would the harmonics be afected ?

I would think it would be better to slide a sock type cover over it.

I have been useing that cloth camo tape on my Rem 760 barrel & receiver for years ( I change it about every three years because it gets dirty but there have been no accuracy problems whatsoever. I also like the side benefit of it being waterproof.

I have used the tape without much problem but have switched to BBQ grill spray paint and lilke it much better.
