Re: Aftermarket stocks for Sako 75's
Steve, I would encourage you to call McMillan and talk to them about your situation. I think they are the only ones that can help us "inbreds" out.

Iam almost trained to shoot my Sako RH lefty now, with no problems.

Thanks for your input and responses!! ...sakofan...Good luck!!!!

Sakofan,

Too bad. 691 and 75 actions are not stock-swappable. HS Precision stock won't work for the 75.

Anybody know who makes an aftermarket stock for a Sako 75??
It's a SS Hunter .300 win mag, action V.

It's a right handed action, but I shoot lefty, so cheek piece is not wanted or needed.
Synthetic a must.

I like the Mcmillan Varmint series, but not sure if it will work with my .300 Win mag. V action. This is not the Sako 75 stock!! Its the sand colored Varmint.
I did email Mcmillan for an answer on that.

Any help or advise appreciated...sakofan..

sakofan,

I was going to recommend the HS Precision Varmint stock. I'm looking at doing the same thing. I prefer wood and ordered a sako 7mm, but the wood stock's thumb-hole cutout and cheekpiece make it awkward to shoot left handed, so I'm going to either change the stock or sell it. Smooth action, though. And accurate.

Sakofan,

Sorry, I left the post incomplete. I started to say I was going to recommend it, but didn't know yet for sure if it'll fit. I keep calling after they close. I might try tomorrow during lunch. If I get an answer, I'll post it.

Sakofan,

HS Precision doesn't know. They pointed me at Beretta. I couldn't work my way out of that maze, so I sent the question to the e-mail on the Sako website.

I think I read that the 75 action is the same externally to the old 691 action, but I'd like factory confirmation of that.

OK. Talked to McMillan just now. The Sako 75, and I think maybe the Varmint too can be made with the bolt inlay on the right side, and the cheek piece on the right side, so one can shoot it left handed. No extra charge for the refit....sakofan..The Varmint says L/H only though.
