Talley rings for Sako
Does anyone know if they make Talley rings for Sako rifles? I've looked all over and on Talleys site if you use the rifle make filter it come up with no match. I'm looking to put new Knightforce glass on my 300 WM. Any suggestions on rings if i can't get Talley's?

I know of Warne, Leupold, Weaver (style) or Sako rings. Better think of getting a sturdy mount, those Nightforce scopes are pretty heavy.

If Talley makes em for your Sako the one piece aluminum (slight lapping required) will work well. They have held up for me on numerous rifles. I use them on all of my hunting rifles and Nightforce or Farrel on my tactical rigs.

Nightforce rings are really, really nice! But a bit heavy -- but so are their scopes. No lapping of required.

Maybe i'll check on the Knightforce rings. I'm going to call Talley to see if they make them.

The Talley system uses dovetailed base adapters that accept standard Talley rings.

Yep, have 'em on two of my Sako AVs - 416 Rem and 375 H&H.

Correct, and I have several sets on several different Sako rifle, holding Nightforce and other large (heavy scopes) without issue. No lapping needed on their vertically split steel rings, plenty stout, and hold up under heavy recoil--I've got calibers up to 330 Dakota, 375 H&H that are ROCK solid.

Simply order the proper bases for your action size, and then any of their Steel rings will fit them.

Thanks fellas, I havn't had a chance to call them yet but i will. Does the separate dovetail/Scope ring combo put your scope much higher off the barrel? As you can see in in the photo in my Almost got the 300 WM dialed post, I actually had to trim the scope cover in the front to be able to fit.

Actually, I wasn't going to bitch about them because different folks like different things. I found them TOO high for my 300 Wby. I couldn't get a good cheek weld and still see through the scope and the stock slaps me when I hold my head any higher.

Having said that, the situation could be completely different for someone with a different build, plus the 300 Win isn't nearly as sharp as the 300 Wby.

In short, yes. I have several sets as I mentioned, and have found that the LOW rings will clear a 50mm on Sako's in all factory contours for me. If you want to be sure of clearance being a little higher, just order medium rings.

I have a set of 1" that I am willing to part with if you're interested. PM for details.

The Sako optilock are very sturdy rings and fit straight on to the base of the gun.

Nice rifle! Your scope sits about an 1/8th" higher than mine with those rings.

The Talley's are very elegant rings and bases. For the more pedestrian, or someone like me, that has a great number of rings that fit 1913 Picatinny bases, IOR makes a compatible base. As shown here:

Sako 2 piece base

This expands your options for 1", 30mm, 34mm and 35mm scopes and rings.
