Voere Rifles
I kind of have a soft spot for some of the Voere rifles built on 98 mauser actions. I have 4 of them now. # are the 98 actions with the tang safety. The first one I picked up does not have the tang safety,it has a low swing safety and is in 6.5x68 cal. It is quite accurate (everything a 264 Win is ). Next was a 308 Norma with the tang safety. The 3rd one I picked up was a 30-06 with the tang safety. A week ago another one followed me home. This one is a 7mm Rem with the tang safety. It is not stamped Voere but it is stamped Kliengunther mod K-16. It is built on a commercial 98 action not a converted military action as the first 3 are. this one is also a little lighter than the rest. The first 3 rifles will all group in the 1 to 1 1/4 inch at 200 yds, so I'm hoping the 7mm will do at least as well. Just finished glass bedding the rifle and mounting a scope so we are ready to head to the range tomorrow. Anuone else out there like these rifles?

Lucky man! I like the Austrian craftsmen's work.

In the 1950s they also made rifles on the 98 action branded as Akah. I owned a 7X64 with a tang safety and twin triggers for a while. This was not the pre WW2 piece of art but a modern one with hot blue and terrible checkering . It shot well with claw mounts.

The more modern Voeres with 3 lug bolts were also well made & they were also sold under the Kliengunther label.

My experience, with Voere rifles, has been two 30-06s both owned by friends. Smooth bolt throws, tang safeties and deadly accurate!

A friend of mine has one in 30/06, shoots almost any ammo under an inch easily, nice smooth bolt. The down side is bad checkering and the trigger is inconsistent. If you load it and shoot the trigger pull is rough and hard, if you engage the safety then let off safety and shoot the trigger pull is far easier.

Is this the Voere manufacturer that made the--no brass electronic ammo. only in certain calibers back in the 1960's?

I had a sub-moa 300 WM with DST's for several years. I traded it to Chris at Walnut Grove Gunstocks for a little $$$ and two near-exhibition grade stocks.

It had a detachable box magazine.

I just brought my first one, a 7 mag, home. I love the tang safety. Imported by Kassnar, Voere in Austria, model 2165.
Scope and sight in over the next couple of weeks. I hope it lives up to its reputation.

FYI There are 2 Voere manufacturers. One is Austrian, the other German.

Robert Kleinguenther (of Seguin, Texas) was the importer of the German Voere rifles and used the barreled actions as the basis for his rifles (K-14, K15, etc).

Interesting. Started post WW2!

Company relocated from Germany to Austria in 1965.

I completely forgot. Voere (of Suhl) was bought by Mauser in the 90s and continued to manufacture the Titan 2 action for a while and called it the Mauser 99.

Made it to the range a couple times with the K-16 7mm rem. First trip yielded some once fired brass and an indication that the rifle liked 7828. Loaded some of those cases with 150 gr Nosler ballistic tips. 67 grs of 7828 produced 3 shot groups of 1 inch at 200 yds and 68 was right at 3/4 inch. I will try some partitions next to see if they group to the same spot. If they are close my load development for this rifle is done. I think this rifle is going deer hunting this fall.

I bought one in the mid 70's.
It was in 300 win mag
It had the Weatherby style monte carlo and a thin schnabel forearm with a pretty thin bbl.
Just a plain Voere tho.

Weird thing was it came with a brass follower never saw one before since in a rifle.
It would not take the max number of shells in the box and constantly jammed on feeding.

I quickly gave up on it and returned it and picked up a 308 win Husqavarna light weight.

Now that was great rifle!

Westcoaster Strange you should mention the brass follower. My 6.5x68 has the brass follower and the 7mm does as well. They both feed just fine as do the steel followers on the 30-06 and 308 Norma. Does anyone know why Voere made the brass followers? Why on some rifles and not on others?

My Voere in 270 WCF also has the brass follower.

Maybe Voere bought a job lot of M98 actions and bolts but there were mo followers?

As certainly here in Europe it is said that these Voere rifles based on the M98 were made using war surplus parts.

And as casting brass is cheaper than machining steel...well there's the answer.

Enfield My 7mm Voere is not a military action. It is a commercial action with no charger guide thumb slot. If they were buying new commercial actions I would think they would come with a follower

Yes my 7X64 had a brass follower in the mag.
