Another 30 cal on bear question
Have not really fooled with 180 gr bullets in my .308 except Sierra GK. After seeing the response to my other post I thought I would ask what the board thought was the best brand and type of 180 gr bullet was best for black bear.

I would not hesitate to use the Sierra Gamekings that you already are using. In my 30/06 they work great on Elk, most Black Bears are no tougher than an Elk.

Anything, really. Consider the velocity of a .308 Winchester compared to a .300 Winchester Magnum, big difference. .308 bullets need to be designed to work across a large velocity spread, and the .308 is close to the bottom of that spread, so even at close range the velocity shouldn't be so high as to cause undue bullet failure.

That being said, Nosler Partition is always a good choice, seems to be a bit softer than an A-Frame which would suit the less-than-a-magnum velocity.
