Remington CDL Classic Deluxe
Just got back form the range. Sighted in my new..ah,that is to say my kids new rifle
The CDL is a nice looking gun, and with the R3 recoil pad, it's a dream to shoot. I know that a 7mm-08 is not much of a shoulder whacker anyway, but in this rifle it's a powderpuff. The accuracy is quite good, I loaded up some Speer 145gr with 40gr. of H4895. Groups 5 under an inch at 100yds.
If you are considering a new rifle, you might want to take a look at the CDL, I am very happy......oh, ah the kid likes it too.

How do you guys think that new Remington recoil pad stacks up against the Pachmyer Decelerator pad. I have a couple on two of my rifles and am quite satisfied with them, but I'm always looking for something a little better. Can you buy that Remington pad as an aftermarket add on? Best wishes.

The R3 is an SVL Limbsaver pad made specially for Remington.I'v been swapping out all my Decelerators for the Limbsaver, its a major improvement. They'r somewhat softer than the Pachmeyer and may not last quite as long,if you'r in the habit of using your rifle as a walking stick, but its generally cheaper and less painful to replace a worn out pad than a worn out shoulder. Heres their website.

I can second the opinion on the Sims/R3 vs Decelerator pads. I like the decelerator pads and haven't taken any off anything, but I'm convinced that the Sims/R3 pads work better at reducing felt recoil. They don't look as nice but I can live with that.

I too picked up a CDL as soon as I saw they were available in 35 Whelen. Love the look of the rifle, the caliber is cool and one I've wanted for years, and it's a shooter with several different handloads as well as the 200 grain Remington factory ammo. -WSJ

Any way you could take some pictures of your rifle and post them. I would really like to see some close up pictures. You can email them to me and I will post them here if you like.
