6.5BRMontana Rifle actions- owners feedback wanted
I am contemplating the new to be released 'mini' action.....what can you owners of MRC actions tell me? Good, bad, otherwise.
Thanks.

Cold BoreI've got a CM magnum action, unbuilt.
I like it.
I've had (through various deals and trades) a few more CM and SS short actions and standard longs.
Liked them all, but knew I'd never build on them, so they were all eventually sold or traded for MORE stuff that I don't need.

But... I'm not sure I'd be liking one in a Mini. Part of the reason of a small action is to save weight. The Montanas aren't the lightest actions out their. Just something to consider...

max(hm2)i have had 6 or 7 of their actions. some i built into rifles for customers and others were sold as actions only. i think they are good actions for the price that they are sold. every one i had could have been used as received and been on par with the remington/winchester/ruger rifles. they also could be refined with a little more work and time to be really nice.
as far as the mini action is concerned i wouldn't get to excited. this company uses customer commitments to capitalize these projects. in return they give you a large price break on the charter actions. they have been collecting commitments on the mini's and ph actions for a little over a year now to get a minimum start up run and still have a way to go on both to reach their number. also after they started the short actions and the left handed actions it took a little over a year to get them produced and delivered. so i assume it would be the same for any new production.

And they're a long ways from the numnber of committments required to capitalize the tooling to mmake the first actions.
To your question on the MRC actions: Mine is a 1999 CR RH in .375 H&H and is just fine. No complaints here.

6.5BRThanks, perhaps a Sako Vixen is the way to go....I would hope/think that MRC would do their's similar in dimensions/weight, but I don't want to 'invest capital' and risk losing it waiting for an action that may come to market.
